Join our team as a Coating Inspector, where you’ll play an important role in supporting safe and compliant field operations. In this seasonal position, you’ll help oversee daily pipeline and gas distribution construction activities performed by contractor crews. Your work will involve monitoring jobsite practices, ensuring federal regulations and company policies are followed, and documenting progress throughout each day. You’ll participate in safety briefings, verify that crews have the proper qualifications, and keep accurate records of work from both safety and efficiency perspectives. A big part of your role is using your judgment to identify potential issues, determine their seriousness, and take the right steps to resolve them.
You’ll also review coating materials, inspect pipe for defects, and ensure the contractor follows all required specifications. When something needs to be corrected, you’ll guide crews on what to do and how to do it. This position is ideal for someone who is detail‑oriented, proactive, and confident in making field‑level decisions that keep work safe and compliant.
This is a 4–6 month seasonal opportunity based in Baltimore, supporting active field construction projects.
This position is critical to the safety and quality control operations of the firm. The position is responsible for overseeing a variety of field activities performed by contracting companies to ensure compliance with OSHA laws and Federal Safety Standards for Transportation of Natural and Other Gas by Pipeline (49 C.F.R. Part 192). The position duties include non-manual compliance assurance work in Field activities including monitoring, overseeing, and directing compliance of Transmission pipeline inspection to determine compliance with federal regulations, coordinating safety laws with Operations and Maintenance manuals (O&M) to determine compliance with both, regulator station inspection, Distribution System inspection, and record keeping. The Coating Inspector provides oversight and direction of the coating process on piping and verifies that all field-applied pipe coatings are mixed, prepared, and applied per client procedures outlined by the client’s specifications and applicable standards and regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in the utility or pipeline industries or a related industry.
- NACE CIP Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3 certification required (as determined by client)
- API 1169 certification preferred.
